This policy outlines how refunds, cancellations, and reprints work for Books.by authors — including our 100-Day Satisfaction Guarantee and procedures for author copy orders.
1. The 100-Day Satisfaction Guarantee
New authors can try Books.by risk-free with our 100-Day Guarantee.
If Books.by isn’t the right fit, you can cancel and receive a full refund within your first 100 days of joining.
To qualify, all three of the following conditions must be met:

Book sales | Fewer than 2 copies sold through your public store |
Royalties earned | Less than US $10 in total payouts |
If all three apply, you’re eligible for a full refund and account closure. Refunds are processed within 5 – 10 business days, and you’ll receive an email confirmation once complete.
Why these limits exist:
The policy is designed to let authors sample our publishing tools, printing network, and delivery experience — while ensuring refunds aren’t requested after significant commercial use (for example, after multiple sales or royalty payouts). Low thresholds exist to still allow authors to print or sell copies as a part of their routine testing process to evaluate the Books.by experience.
2. How to Request a Refund
Check your eligibility: You can confirm your account age, sales, and royalties in your dashboard.
Contact Support: Email [email protected] with your account email and refund request.
Processing: If eligible, we’ll refund your full payment and close your account. You’ll receive confirmation once complete.
To help our team direct your refund in the most appropriate way, it's helpful to hear of any particular reason that you might be requesting the refund.
3. Cancellations (After 100 Days)
You can cancel your Books.by plan at any time from your dashboard.
Cancellations take effect immediately and stop future renewals.
You’ll keep full access to your account and store until the end of your paid plan year.
After that, your account will automatically close.
If you’re thinking about cancelling, we’d love to understand if anything hasn’t met your expectations — but you’re free to cancel at any time without penalty.
4. Author Copy Orders (Proofs, Bulk, or Test Orders)
If you’ve ordered copies of your own book and there’s a printing or delivery issue:
Printing defects: We’ll reprint the affected copies at no cost.
Delivery delays: If your author copies haven’t arrived within 30 days of printing, we’ll arrange a reprint right away.
Refunds: Refunds are available upon request after a reprint, subject to review by our Author Success team.
When reporting a printing issue, please include clear photos of the defect.
For author copies, we may ask for one photo with the cover corner torn to confirm the book isn’t fit for resale — this ensures replacement copies are approved quickly.
5. How Refunds Are Processed
Refunds typically reach your payment account within 5 – 10 business days.
You’ll receive an email confirmation once processed.
Books.by absorbs refund costs; your royalties are never reduced.
