We have a helpful royalty calculator available here which will let you select your book type, page count and retail price to calculate your exact royalties.
At Books.by, we don't take a commission on the sale of your book. You'll earn 100% of the sale proceeds, after printing and shipping costs.
The average book, a 200 page black and white paperback novel, will cost $6.41 USD to print, and $5 USD to ship. So, if you set a retail price of $19.99, you'll earn a royalty of $7.70 on the sale of each book β a 38% royalty.
Free Shipping, or Charge Customers for Shipping
As the author, you have the option to either offer free shipping to customers (and absorb the shipping cost in your earnings), or charge your customers a flat rate for shipping, like a flat $5 worldwide rate.
We recommend charing customers a flat $5 rate, because it's an easy way to boost your royalties whilst maintaining a low retail price on your book.
For example, a typical 200 page novel priced at $19.99, with a $5 flat rate shipping charge, would earn a $12.70 royalty on the sale.
